JESIP & Interoperability
The Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) were established to improve the way Police, Fire, and Ambulance services work together at major incidents. For private organisations, aligning with JESIP is the gold standard for effective crisis management.
The M/ETHANE Model
At the heart of JESIP is the M/ETHANE model for shared situational awareness. Continuity Direct uses this exact structure for all Situation Reports:
- M - Major Incident: Declared or Standby?
- E - Exact Location: Precise mapping coordinates.
- T - Type of Incident: Fire, Cyber, Chemical, etc.
- H - Hazards: Present and potential risks to responders.
- A - Access: Routes in and out for emergency vehicles.
- N - Number of Casualties: Severity and type.
- E - Emergency Services: Who is on scene and who is required.
Why It Matters
When you call 999 during a complex incident, the operator needs structured information. By using Continuity Direct, you are pre-formatting your situation report into the language they speak. This reduces confusion, speeds up dispatch, and ultimately saves lives.
